Three fires keep fire fighters busy
OTTAWA – It’s been a busy start to the weekend for Ottawa Fire as three blazes have sent several people looking for places to stay, and two to the hospital.
The first fire left one person homeless and 14 units without power after a blaze in Vanier friday. Neighbours said at one point they saw flames shooting out from the balcony of a unit at 49 Ontario Street. The flames then spread into the dining room of the apartment.
The damage is estimated at $25,000.

The second fire, also in Vanier sent fire fighters to 555 Cote Street, Friday evening where a fouth floor kitchen apartment was destroyed. Three people were forced out of their home for the night.
Damages there are estimated at $210,000.
The third fire early Saturday morning sent fire crews to 170 Lees Avenue with reports that a bedroom was engulfed in flames.
When Ottawa Fire arrived on scene they found an entire three bedroom apartment on fire, with flames shooting out the window.
Two residents were taken to the General Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation.

Ottawa Fire is investigating, and the damage is estimated at $235,000.
