KELOWNA, B.C. – A float plane carrying three people has crashed in British Columbia .
Initial reports said five people were aboard the DeHavlland Beaver aircraft when it went down on Sunday evening near the community of Peachland, southwest of Kelowna.
But Capt. Greg Clarke of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says three people were on the plane, but did not have any information on facilities or injuries.
Various reports have indicated at least one person died, but that has not yet been confirmed by police.
A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board says the plane went down along Highway 97 near Peachland and burst into flames after the crash.
The plane was flying from the Okanagan Lake to Pitt Meadows.
The NTSB will send two investigators to the scene early Monday to examine the crash site to determine a cause.
