Victoria Day 2012: what’s open & closed & fireworks

OTTAWA – The Victoria Day long weekend is May 19-21. Below is a list of fireworks locations, as well as what’s open and closed on May 21.

What’s closed Monday:

  • Grocery stores
  • LCBO and Beer Store locations
  • Shopping centres.
  • City Hall and all client service centres.
  • City operated child care centres.
  • City of Ottawa archives, arts centres, galleries, theatres and museums ( Check with the city’s website or the facility to confirm holiday hours, as some exceptions may apply.)

There is no garbage collection and OC Transpo is running on a Sunday schedule.

What’s open Monday:

  • Gardening centres remain open.
  • Rideau Centre which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stores in the ByWard Market remain open.
  • The city’s 311 contact centre remains open for urgent matters.

Fireworks:

  • Sunday, May 20, 2012 Dows Lake 9:30 p.m.
  • Monday, May 21, 2012 Queen Juliana Park (Carling Avenue and Preston Street.) 10 p.m.
