Police search for owner of abandoned canoe

Police are searching for the owner of a green canoe abandoned on the Ottawa River over the weekend

The Scott Kevlar model canoe with aluminium trim was found approximately 100 metres from the shore wedged in a rocky shoal east of the Britannia Filtration Plant.

The canoe has a small hole in it and has a Canadian flag on the bow.  It was found with two wooden paddles, a black flip flop, a tube of sunscreen and a water bottle.

Police tell 1310News they believe someone lost the canoe, rather than fell out of it, adding there is no link to any missing persons report. However, they are searching the shoreline where the canoe was found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
