Woman charged in pharmacy robbery

OTTAWA, Ont. – Police have charged an Ottawa woman with the robbery of a pharmacy last week in Ottawa’s west end.

Just before 7 a.m. Friday, a woman entered a pharmacy on Carling Avenue, said she had a gun and demanded prescription drugs.

She fled to a waiting taxi cab with an undisclosed amount of pills but when the driver got suspicious, she took off on foot leaving behind the stolen drugs.

Melissa LaBranche, 26, is facing a number of charges and will appear in court Thursday.
