Day of Pink recognized around the world

People around the world are marking International Day of Pink!

The day of action was created when two Grade 12 students in Nova Scotia stood up to bullies harassing a Grade 9 student for wearing pink at their high school.

By wearing pink, you show your support for the LGBTQ community and stand up against bullying and homophobia.

It’s estimated that 8.5 million people will wear pink Wednesday to bring awareness to discrimination in schools and communities.

In Ottawa, a free Day of Pink gala will take place at 6 p.m. at the Government Conference Centre and will feature former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, Mark Tewksbury and several local politicians.
