Overloaded dryer being blamed for west end fire

OTTAWA, Ont. – An overloaded dryer in a laundry room is being blamed for a fire in Ottawa’s west end.

Fire crews were called to 902 Pinecrest Avenue just after 12:30 a.m., along with paramedics, gas and hydro. Crews quickly knocked out the flames and no one was injured, however, two people have been temporarily replaced.

Damage is pegged around $5,000, including damage to the dryer and smoke damage to the building.

Ottawa Fire Services is reminding people not to leave running appliances unattended.
