OTTAWA, Ont. – Emergency crews responded to an early morning water rescue on the Ottawa River Friday.

Fire crews and paramedics were called to the Ottawa Rowing Club shortly after 7 a.m.

“When we arrived on scene, there were four women that had fallen in the water,” Denis Gagnon with Ottawa Paramedics told 1310News. “They were rowing their boat and the boat capsized. The safety boats beside them pulled the four females out of the water.”

One woman, 20, was taken to hospital with mild hypothermia, while the other three were treated on scene.
