Three men charged with robbery, forcible confinement

OTTAWA – Three men have been charged in connection with a retail robbery.
According to police, the three men entered a smoke shop on Montreal Road around 10:30 a.m. Monday and demanded cash from the lone employee working.
The employee was bound in a back room before surveillance cameras were destroyed. A safe full of cigarettes was also stolen.
Police responded to the scene around 11 a.m., after receiving a call about a robbery in progress, to find three men in the process of loading stolen items into a getaway vehicle. Police took the three men, plus the driver, into custody.
Paramedics responded to the scene to examine the store employee, who was uninjured in the robbery.
Kyle Richer-Martin, 22, Ramzi Wahlie, 20, and Edmund Asante, 22, all three have been charged jointly with robbery, forcible confinement, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and mischief under $5,000.
Asante has also been charged with breach of probation, while the driver was interviewed and released without charge.
