Leigh Chapple, longtime CTV Ottawa late-night news anchor, dies

OTTAWA – Leigh Chapple, the former longtime anchor of CTV Ottawa’s late-night newscast, has died. She was found dead in her home by her husband, Tuesday morning.

Chapple, 58, left the CTV Ottawa anchor desk in May 2012, retiring after 36 years with the station.

Former six o’clock news anchor Max Keeping hired Chapple when she was 19, as his personal assistant, after she studied journalism at Algonquin College.

Chapple worked her way up through the ranks of the CJOH-TV newsroom, as a reporter and hosting Regional Contact, before making the move to the late-night news.

The cause of Chapple’s death is not yet known.
