Alta Vista area schools no longer on lockdown

OTTAWA – The all-clear has been given in Alta Vista, after a gun scare led to multiple schools going into lockdown.

Ottawa police said the call came in just before 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, after a student reported seeing a teenaged boy possibly carrying a gun.

Charles H. Hulse Public School was on lockdown for an hour and a half while police performed a grid search on the ground and in the air, giving the all clear just before 3:30 p.m.

Police continue to investigate.
