Family of four rescued after Ottawa River boat capsize near Deschene Rapids

OTTAWA – A family of four had to be rescued from the Deschenes Rapids Sunday after their boat capsized.

The boat flipped after its motor stopped working around 2:30 p.m., and the family of four, two adults and two children, are said to be doing well.

Bystanders pulled the woman and children from the water, while the man was rescued by Gatineau fire crews.

No one was seriously injured but the four were taken to hospital as a precaution.

In a similar incident earlier this month, two men fell in to the same rapids after their boat capsized.

One managed to swim to shore, while the other drowned.
