Hwy. 174 crash injures five

ORLEANS, Ont. – A serious midday collision on the 174 injured five people, two of them seriously.
Five vehicles collided in the westbound lanes of the highway, near Champlain Street in Orleans, around 11:45 a.m., Tuesday. One of the vehicles ended up in the ditch.
A total of five people were assessed by paramedics. A 73-year-old man, a 68-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman were taken to hospital. The older woman is in serious condition, while the other two are in stable condition.
Two other people received minor cuts and bruises in the crash, but did not need to be taken to hospital.
Trafficspotters told 1310News all westbound lanes except for one were blocked while emergency crews responded to the pileup.
The City of Ottawa reported the incident was cleared up by around 1 p.m.
