Severe thunderstorms possible across eastern Ontario

OTTAWA — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of eastern Ontario, as thunderstorms are expected to affect much of the southern areas of the province this afternoon and early evening ahead of an approaching cold front.

Some of these thunderstorms have the potential to become severe with large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

Severe thunderstorm watch issued for:

  • City of Ottawa
  • Gatineau
  • Prescott and Russell
  • Cornwall – Morrisburg
  • Smiths Falls – Lanark – Sharbot Lake
  • Renfrew – Pembroke – Barry’s Bay.
  • Brockville – Leeds and Grenville
  • Bancroft – Bon Echo Park
  • Kingston – Prince Edward
  • Belleville – Quinte – Northumberland

The watch also covers areas as far west as London.
