Heat warning in effect for areas south of Ottawa

OTTAWA – Hot, humid conditions through southern and into eastern Ontario has produced a heat warning south of Ottawa.
The Environment Canada warning is in effect for:
-Prescott-Russell
-Cornwall
-Morrisburg
Humidex values in these areas are expected to approach 40 Tuesday.
You’re advised to drink plenty of liquids, avoid sun exposure, avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors and to spend at least two hours a day in an air-conditioned location if possible.
Health risks from extreme heat are greatest for:
-older adults
-infants and young children
-people with chronic illnesses such as breathing difficulties, heart conditions or psychiatric illnesses
-people who work in the heat
-people who exercise in the heat
-people without access to air conditioning
-homeless
It’s forecast to be hot in Ottawa as well, but not enough to produce a warning. The high for Tuesday is 31 degrees C, but could feel more like 38 with the humidity.
