Barrhaven opens brand new synagogue

OTTAWA — The city’s first new synagogue in over 30 years officially opened Monday.
The Ottawa Torah Centre opened their doors in Barrhaven with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
The 12,000 square-foot, $4 million facility features the synagogue, classrooms, a hall, several offices, meeting rooms, and a Judaic library.
The Jewish Federation of Ottawa estimates there are over 14,000 Jews living in the nation’s capital, with many of them living in Barrhaven and Kanata.
According to the federation’s website, there are now 12 synagogues in the city.
