More than 2,700 charges laid during August STEP

OTTAWA – More than 2,700 charges were laid in Ottawa and Gatineau during the August Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.
The target for August was focused on pedestrian safety and speeding, resulting in a total 2,735 charges.
Pedestrian safety:
Ottawa – 21
Gatineau – 70
Speeding:
Ottawa – 1236
Gatineau – 1408
Total:
Ottawa – 1257
Gatineau – 1478
The theme for September STEP is school bus and school zone safety, as well as seat belts and car seats.
