TORONTO – An ailing Rob Ford will be at his family’s popular annual barbecue in Etobicoke on Saturday.
Coun. Doug Ford’s campaign team confirmed on Friday the mayor would join in the festivities at Ford Fest, in the parking lot of the Sears Outlet Store on Islington Avenue West.
It will be Rob Ford’s first public event since starting chemotherapy for liposarcoma, though he was photographed campaigning in Etobicoke on Friday night.
Kris Sauvageot snapped a pic with Rob Ford on Friday night in the area of Bloor Street West and Mill Road.
The 16-year-old said Ford looked to be in good spirits and even autographed Sauvageot’s brother’s arm.
“He did seem a little tired but I don’t think it was letting it get him down,” Sauvageot said. “He was very dedicated to going and talking to people.”
The mayor left Mount Sinai Hospital on Tuesday after his first round of chemo and his office said he had returned home and was resting with his family.
Earlier this month, Doug announced he would replace Rob in his campaign for the mayor’s chair. Rob is running for council in Ward 2, Etobicoke North.
