Police investigating violent home invasion involving machete

 

 

OTTAWA – Police are investigating a violent home invasion that left one man seriously injured.

On November 14, around 8:30 p.m., a man and woman were in an apartment at 180 Lees Ave., when two men broke in armed with a crowbar or hammer, and a machete.

The male occupant knocked unconscious with the crowbar or a hammer, while the woman was pushed to the floor, then bound and blind-folded.

The two suspects then searched the apartment, stealing a quantity of items. One of the suspects was also carrying a syringe and threatened to stab the woman.

After the two men left, woman managed to free herself and drove the injured man to the hospital. He remained in a coma for several days, but he has since improved and been released.

The first suspect is described as:

-Caucasian
-5’10” tall
-230 lbs.
-30-years-old
-shaved head
-wearing a red Adidas sweater and black jeans

The second suspect is described as:

-aboriginal
-6-foot
-170 lbs.
-30-years-old
-dark hair
-wearing a black coat, a blue hooded sweater, black jeans
-carrying a red back-pack

Police believe the attack was random, and are asking anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.
