OTTAWA – Two former University of Ottawa hockey players are due in a Thunder Bay courtroom Tuesday.
Guillaume Donovan, 24, and team captain David Foucher, 25, both of Gatineau, are charged with sexual assault in connection to an incident at a Thunder Bay hotel while the Ottawa Gee-Gees were there in February of 2014.
It’s alleged that a 21-year old woman was sexually assaulted while the team was in that city for a weekend series against the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Ottawa U suspended the men’s hockey program for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons in the wake of the incident.
The team’s coach and general manager were also fired, and the school has put improved policies in place, including new behaviour guidelines for student-athletes.
