Man stabbed to death in Orleans; father charged

OTTAWA – A 70-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with second degree murder after his son was found dead, Tuesday evening.

John McRae made a court appearance, Wednesday, via video link .

Police were called to 6632 Notre Dame Street around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, and found a 51-year-old man who had been stabbed repeatedly.

One neighbour tells 1310News that a father and son started arguing Tuesday night in the backyard, and that the son was later stabbed in the chest, multiple times, after he went to bed.

He was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

The man’s father will appear in court again on July 15.
