Two teens are in life-threatening condition following a collision involving a sedan and a piece of farm equipment.
It happened Friday evening around 6 p.m. Ottawa Fire Service received a call from police requesting assistance at the scene of a collision in the 4800 block of Brophy Dr. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the vehicles involved were a sedan, that ended nose-first into a ditch with extensive damage, and a tractor towing tandem disks.
First responders confirmed there were two occupants in the sedan. One had been ejected from the vehicle and the other was trapped inside. Firefighters said multiple bystanders had stopped to help the two patients.
Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and advanced a hose line as a precaution before beginning the extrication process.
Firefighters then removed the passenger side doors and the roof to safely get the patient out. The patient was put on a backboard and removed from the vehicle.
Police confirmed that the two patients were teenagers and were transported to CHEO in life-threatening condition. The driver of the farm equipment was uninjured.
Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
