Spring-like temperatures continue in Ottawa

OTTAWA – Winter is fast-approaching, but it doesn’t feel like it with no snow on the ground and unseasonably high temperatures.
After last year’s seemingly never-ending chilling winter, this season’s above-zero temperatures might be a bit of a shock to the system.
1310NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor says the unusually warm weather we’re seeing is all due to El Nino, a temporary warming of parts of the Pacific Ocean, the effects of which are being felt half-way across the world.
Jill says we could see some record-breaking temperatures this week, especially on Friday with a high of 10 expected. The last record of 9.4 degrees was set 44 years ago, in 1971.
Jill says there might be a turnaround right before Christmas, with some cooler air headed our way in the next week— so we might just see a white Christmas after all.
