Cats should be kept indoors: OHS

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Humane Society is calling out cat owners who let their pets go outside, referring to it as “irresponsible behaviour.”
In a scathing blog post, the head of the OHS, Bruce Roney, says the streets are no place for a cat.
Roney describes seeing the small animals dodging cars and notes that far too often someone rushes in to OHS carrying a cat that’s been hit by a car.
He says cats that roam outside are also vulnerable to disease, extreme weather and attacks from other animals.
Roney says the situation is becoming an animal welfare crisis.
