Ottawa cop docked pay over for insubordination, discreditable conduct

OTTAWA – A 19-year veteran of the Ottawa Police Service has been handed his punishment for insubordination and discreditable conduct.
According to Postmedia, Constable Robert Kennedy will be docked 48 hours pay and has to go through more training to learn the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Back in 2012, he investigated a collision between a suspected impaired driver and a cyclist in Carp, but most charges brought against that motorist were eventually tossed out.
A judge ruled that Kennedy did not take notes when he first interviewed the driver, did not inform him of his right to a lawyer, and misled him on the possible charges he faced.
