KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Police in Kalamazoo, Michigan say they have a “strong suspect” in custody following a series of fatal shootings.
A man drove around the city area shooting people at three locations Saturday evening including a Cracker Barrel restaurant and a Ford dealership, leaving six dead and three injured, two of whom are in critical condition, police said.
A massive manhunt was then launched for the suspect, described as an older white male, perhaps in his 50s, driving a dark blue vehicle.
Police said they believe the shootings were random and not targeting particular people.
Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said the shootings began about 6 p.m. local time. In addition to the restaurant and the car dealership, the third location was an apartment complex. All of the shootings were in the parking lots.
Kalamazoo is about 250 kilometres west of Detroit.
