Warning sign going up at beach where boy drowned

OTTAWA — Councillor Eli El-Chanitry has posted a photo on Twitter of a sign going up at Point Beach, in the area where a 10-year-old boy drowned last week.
The sign warns of sudden drop-offs and strong currents, and advises swimmers that there are no lifeguards on duty.
A Toronto boy became separated from his older brother when they were walking out into Constance Bay August 6, where there’s a sudden drop-off of about 15 feet.
Neither were strong swimmers, and when the boy started having difficulties, his brother tried to help him — but he began to struggle as well.
The boy slipped under the water, and drowned.
El-Chantiry’s tweet indicated the new sign was going up Friday, August 12.
