Katherine Kitts sentenced to 14 months in jail

OTTAWA – An education assistant who admitted to having a sexual relationship with an underage boy, has been sentenced to 14 months in jail.

Katherine Kitts, 45, will also be on probation for two years after her release.

Kitts pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation after having a two-year relationship with a student. Kitts sexually assaulted the boy on a daily basis at school, in her van and various other places.

The relationship was discovered by the boy’s mother who saw sexually graphic texts between the two.

The Crown had been calling for 12-14 months of jail time and the defence had suggested a 90-day intermittent sentence.
