Man dies after being shot multiple times in Carlington

OTTAWA — It’s been a deadly weekend in Ottawa.

A 26-year-old man has died after a shooting in the Carlington neighbourhood.

The shooting happened on Shillington Ave. around 6:10 a.m. Sunday.

The man was rushed to the Trauma Centre in critical condition, where he later died.

Ottawa Police are on scene at Shillington Ave. as well as at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, where they said the man was originally dropped off.

The Royal doesn’t have an ER and paramedics took him to the Trauma Centre at the Civic Hospital.

The man’s name has not been released.

The shooting comes a day after a 40 year-old man was killed on Elmira Drive.

Jacob Thompson was killed early Saturday morning.

The Major Crime Unit is investigating both deaths.

Their deaths mark the city’s 12th and 13th murders of 2016.

The shootings are the 46th and 47th of the year.
