No injuries after OC Transpo bus catches fire during morning commute

OTTAWA – A double-decker OC Transpo bus, with nearly 80 passengers on board, caught fire early Tuesday morning near Carlsbard Springs.
A listener tells 1310 NEWS, the driver and passenger’s smelled smoke, so the bus pulled over in front of 4825 Piperville Road around 6:50 a.m.
The bus was completely evacuated before flames engulfed the vehicle. There were no injuries.
The driver of the bus said the vehicle felt ‘sluggish’ before the incident.
In a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, OC Transpo confirmed the double-decker bus was the same vehicle that drove off Woodroffe Avenue and hit a pole in 2013.
Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
