Crowdfund for baby burned in Kanata fire more than doubles goal

OTTAWA – The crowdfund for the family of a baby boy who suffered burns in a Kanata house, has more than doubled its goal.

The GoFundMe page was seeking $5,000 to help the family, and as of early Friday morning, $10,420 had been raised.

The 18-month-old boy remains in critical, stable condition at CHEO, being treated for severe burns to his face and limbs, after his crib caught fire early Wednesday morning.

A family friend told 1310 NEWS, the little boy’s father suspects the fire began in a humidifier in his son’s room.

Investigators with Ottawa Fire and the Ontario Fire Marshall have removed two appliances from the home, but investigators have yet to confirm the cause of the fire.
