Police arrest two suspects in violent swarming; seek third suspect

OTTAWA – Police have arrested and charged two young men in connection to violent attacks in the south end this week.
Around 2 a.m., Thursday, a male victim was walking along Heron Road, near the Bronson Avenue overpass, when he was swarmed by two men armed with batons that had blue lights on the ends. While the victim was not injured, the men demanded his wallet and phone.
Then around 3:25 a.m., police responded to a robbery at 4000 Bridle Path, where two people were accosted by three suspects outside a bar. The suspects, who had their faces covered, demanded the victims turn over whatever they had on them, and a scuffle ensued. One of the victims was kicked to the head and tasered in the scuffle before the suspects fled the scene on foot.
A short time later, police arrested two of the three suspects nearby. As a result of the arrests, police say they recovered a ‘baton stun gun’ equipped with a flashlight.
Connor Leask, 18 of Ottawa, faces numerous charges including three counts of robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a prohibited device and assault with a weapon.
A 17-year-old-male is also facing charges including three counts of robbery, two counts of possession of a prohibited device, two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and assault with a weapon.
Both suspects appeared in court on Thursday, while police are still looking for a third suspect.
