Security guard charged with mischief over false robbery report

OTTAWA – A security guard has been charged with public mischief in connection to a false robbery report.

Around 2 a.m. on April 23, police responded to a robbery call at a business under construction on Cresthaven Drive.

The security guard reported being robbed by a group of males, one of which was reportedly carrying a handgun.

Police were called back the same location around 3:20 a.m. when the same guard reported that the suspects had returned.

Police located five male teens who were all released without charges.

Police have now charged the guard, Ali Chokier, 20, with public mischief. He is due in court August 14.
