Fire under investigation in New Edinburgh

OTTAWA — Ottawa Fire Services is assessing damage at a home on Springfield Rd. near Beechwood Ave.
Crews were called to the area just before 7 p.m. Friday, and arrived to find flames coming from a basement unit.
The blaze was under control within a half hour.
No one was injured.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
Firefighters were also called to an apartment fire on Landry St. around 8 p.m., Friday.
Officials say that incident turned out to be a balcony planter on fire, and was put out quickly.
