Police identify victim in fatal Vanier stabbing

OTTAWA – Police have identified the victim of Ottawa’s 14th homicide of the year as Zakaria Iqbal, 18.
His cousin, Naseer Iqbal, says Zakaria was a recent graduate of Gloucester High School.
Police were called to the scene of a fight at Montreal Road and Lajoie Street in Vanier just before 10 p.m. Monday.
Police tell 1310 News there is no one in custody at this point.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Lajoie Street was closed south of Montreal Road, but has since reopened.
