Man shot in Findlay Creek say more needs to be done to address crime in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The victim of a shooting in Findlay Creek says he is concerned about safety in the city and says more needs to be done to address crime.

Hassan Abdul Hussein, 55, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his left knee during a robbery at his home on Friday.

The shooting happened in his driveway and he tells the Citizen, he believes two men followed him home from the Mr. Tire garage that he owns.

He told the paper this particular crime was really easy, and that if he didn’t have any money on him at the time, he’s sure the men would’ve killed him.

He added that it might be time to move away from Ottawa, as he fears for the safety of his wife and four children.

Hussein moved to Canada from Beirut in 1988 during the civil war in Lebanon because he no longer felt safe.
