Fire crews douse flames at Bronson Avenue apartment

Damage to an apartment building at 272 Bronson Ave., near Somerset Street, is pegged at $35,000.

Flames sparked inside of a ninth floor unit around 12:50 p.m., Wednesday.

Fire officials said the blaze was contained to one apartment, but that unit it will not be habitable. An unknown number of residents will be displaced. All other residents have returned to their units.

The fire was declared under control at 1:14 p.m.

There have been no reported injuries.

An Ottawa Fire Investigator is currently on scene to determine a cause.
