Construction begins on Amazon warehouse

By Alex Black

Construction officially begins on Amazon's Ottawa warehouse Monday morning.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mayor Jim Watson will be in attendance for the 10 a.m. event as Amazon officially breaks ground at the site.

The one-million square foot facility, located at 5225 Boundary Road near Highway 417, will be used by Amazon to distribute household decor, sporting equipment and gardening tools.

Over 600 jobs will be created by the distribution centre, which is expected to open next year.
