The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a shoplifting complaint on the afternoon of January 24 at a large retail store in Laurentian Valley Township.

Store staff report that a male and a female stole a significant quantity of electronics, clothing, and grocery items before leaving the scene in an SUV.

Later that afternoon, the OPP located the vehicle in the west end of Pembroke, where they arrested the occupants of the vehicle in relation to the theft.

Police were able to recover the stolen goods.

Laurie Larue, 47, and Charles Stencil-Hahn, 39, both of Pembroke, have each been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.

Both were released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 19.
