By Mike Vlasveld

The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival will feature a performance by Canadian rock icons, Nickelback.

Having sold more than 50-million albums worldwide, the band will be performing on the Casino Lac-Leamy stage on Friday, August 30.

Festival organizers say they are “thrilled to be hosting this world-class band,” and its the “perfect way to confirm its intention to take the already acclaimed event to another level.”

More than a dozen Francophone artists will also be performing at the hot air balloon fest between August 29 and September 2, wrapping up with an exciting family celebration on the Hydro-Québec Stage with LGS (Le Groupe Swing) led by local Franco-Ontarian singer, Michel Bénac.

Organizers add that the program lineup makes plenty of room for up and coming artists, including Montreal hip hop group the Dead Obies.

The full program lineup, including additional performances by English and French-speaking bands, will be unveiled over the next few months.
