Six homes destroyed in Gloucester fire

Ottawa fire responded to multiple calls reporting smoke and flames coming from a townhome in Gloucester.

Crews arrived at 4522 Harper Avenue, near Ogilvie and Blair Roads, at 4:10 p.m. and confirmed a 2-alarm blaze. 

The 3-story unit where the fire broke out has been destroyed.

Six attached units have been heavily damaged and residents will not be able to return home for the foreseeable future. 

There were no injuries. 

The estimated amount of damage is $500,000 for the building and $200,000 in lost property.

A fire investigator has been called in to determine the cause.
