Man avoids amputation after getting arm stuck in garbage truck

First responders acted quickly on Wednesday morning after a man got his arm stuck in a garbage truck.
It happened on Ladybird and Sirocco in Stittsville around 11:45 a.m.
According to paramedics, the waste disposal company employee was working when his arm got stuck in the back loader of the garbage truck.
Because of the complexity of the situation, a surgical team was called to the scene to assist with an amputation.
An ORNG Air Ambulance was also called in.
By the time the surgical team arrived, the man had been freed from the truck and did not lose his arm.
He was flown to the trauma centre in serious but stable condition.
