Attempted murder among charges against two men in Renfrew assault

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has made a second arrest in connection with an assault which left one man with serious injuries.
A 37-year old man was airlifted to hospital in Ottawa following an incident in Renfrew on Sunday, June 16.
OPP Officers arrested Darren Pearce, 34, on Wednesday, after having taken a 30-year-old man into custody earlier.
Pearce faces several charges including:
- Attempt to commit murder contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
- Robbery with violence contrary to section 343(a) of the CC
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC (two counts)
- Aggravated assault contrary to section 268 of the CC
- Assault with a weapon contrary to 267(a) of the CC (two counts)
- Fail to comply with recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the CC (two counts)
He remains in custody, pending a bail hearing scheduled for June 20, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
A suspect arrested earlier has been identified as Terrance Goodwin, of Mississippi Mills. He has been charged with:
- Attempt to commit murder contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
- Robbery with violence contrary to section 343(a) of the CC
- Aggravated assault contrary to section 268 of the CC
- Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC (two counts)
Goodwin is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on June 19 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
The investigation is ongoing, under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave MacDonald of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
