Handguns seized, four arrested in Ottawa-Gatineau guns and gangs investigation

Ottawa and Gatineau police have arrested three Ottawa people and another from Thornhill as part of a guns and gangs investigation, which turned up weapons and cocaine.

The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit and Gatineau Police Guns and Gangs Unit seized two loaded handguns as part of two separate search warrants on Thursday, July 18. 

Investigators searched one home in Ottawa, one in Gatineau, and made a traffic stop, in which two men and two women were arrested.

The first search happened on Cavan Street at Lepage Avenue in Ottawa's Carlington nieghbourhood. A loaded 9 mm handgun and cocaine were seized at that location. 

A gun and drugs were then seized at a home in Gatineau.

A traffic stop in the Carling Avenue and Kirkwood Avenue area then lead to the arrest of a man and a woman. Cocaine was seized in that stop.

Mohamed E Ahmed Mohamed, 35, of Thornhill, was arrested in the Gatineau home and Akossina Akossiwa Ahialoho, 24, of Ottawa, was also arrested in Gatineau. Charges have been laid by Gatineau police, but details about the specific charges have not been released. They will appear in court in Gatineau.

Aikman and Johnson, who were both arrested during the traffic stop, will be in show cause court Friday.
