Arrest made and gun seized after Hog’s Back area robbery

A 19-year-old is facing weapon-related charges after a street robbery in the Hog's Back Road and Colonel By Drive area.

Officers responded to the incident around 10:45 p.m., Wednesday, and were informed about a couple of suspects.

A man matching one of the descriptions was arrested in the area a short time later and he was found to be carrying a handgun.

The second suspect fled the area. Police say a K9 track came up empty.

Sahardid Farah Abdi, 19, of Ottawa, is charged with:

Robbery with a weapon
Pointing a firearm
Possession of a weapon
Conspiracy
Use a firearm to commit an offense
Possession of a restricted firearm

Abdi appeared in show cause court this morning.
