Personal robbery and assault of OC Transpo officer leads to two arrests

Two men in their early 20's are facing charges after a street robbery in the Billings Bridge area followed by the assault of an OC Transpo Security Officer at Hurdman Station.

Ottawa police say 911 calls came in around 8:40 p.m., Thursday, as a victim reported to be robbed in the Bank Street and Riverside Drive area. A description of the suspects was given. 

While taking that information from the victim, more 911 calls came in regarding an assault on the second floor of Hurdman Station, involving an OC Transpo Security Officer.

Officers responded to the area, regarding both incidents as the suspect descriptions matched. 

Brunke Austin, 21, of Ottawa, is charged with:

• Robbery
• Assault police
• Disarm peace officer 

Kyle Clermont, 24, of Ottawa, is charged with:

• Robbery
• Assault police 

Austin and Clermont will be in court, Friday.
