Arrest made in Old Ottawa South stabbing

A 32-year-old man is facing charges, including assault with a weapon, after a stabbing on Bank Street, between Ossington Avenue and Riverdale Avenue, in Old Ottawa South.

Police say a 59-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed while sleeping at 3:41 a.m., on January 9.

Ozdeniz Ilaslan, of Ottawa, has been charged with:

Aggravated assault
Assault with a weapon
Possession of a weapon

He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
