Bystander stops to help cyclist trapped under vehicle in Carp

Before firefighters could arrive to help a cyclist underneath a vehicle, a Good Samaritan was there to relieve a bit of pressure for the person.
It happened just before 3:00 p.m. in Ottawa’s Carp community on Monday, a release from Ottawa fire details. A man was biking at the intersection of March and Carp roads before he was hit by a vehicle. The force pinned him underneath the SUV.
Seeing the situation, a bystander stopped to help before emergency crews could arrive. Quickly, the person used a jack to lift the vehicle helping relieve some of the pressure on the trapped cyclist.
When fire crews arrived they needed to quickly stabilize the vehicle. Using cribbing and hydraulic ram to lift it, they were able to remove the man in less than 20 minutes.
Ottawa paramedics told CityNews that he was in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
Staying on scene, firefighters didn’t leave until almost an hour later, while Ottawa police took over the incident.
