‘Terrifying and utterly reckless’ says councillor Jeff Leiper on Ottawa school bus incident

This could have been much worse.
A video posted by councillor Jeff Leiper Thursday on Twitter shows a stopped school bus with its doors open, and then a car passing on the inside in a bike lane.
Leiper described the video as 'terrifying and utterly reckless.'
The video was shot from outside a business, along Scott Street, near Tweedsmuir Avenue, Monday.
The bus driver has just opened the doors to let some of the children off but apparently held them back, as he saw a car approaching on the passenger's side.
Shortly after the car went by, two small children get off the bus.
It does not seem as if the car slowed down while passing the bus.

Drivers caught passing a stopped school bus with its lights flashing can be fined up to $2,000 and be docked six demerit points. Additional offences within a 5-year period can earn a person up to another $4,000 in fines, and six more demerit points and they could even face up to six months in jail.
