No injuries in Beacon Hill South apartment fire

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) says its lucky that no one was injured and there was no damage to neighbouring units after an apartment fire on Jasmine Crescent in Beacon Hill South.

The OFS received notification from an alarm company reporting fire alarms at 2020 Jasmine Crescent at 11:17 a.m., Wednesday. A building staff member then reported the smell of smoke.

Crews arrived on the scene just minutes later and found smoke coming from a second floor apartment.

The fire was traced to the bedroom of that apartment and was quickly knocked down.

Fire officials declared the blaze under control at 11:31 a.m.

A fire investigator is working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
